Marcela (25 / Ms. ), Colombian, Customer Service Representative living in United Kingdom looking for Au Pair & Nanny job in Belgium, United Kingdom, Sweden & Switzerland for 6-12 Months

Currently looking for a family in EUROPE to start in June.

My name is Dubys Marcela Rivera, I am 24 years old and I live in Cartagena de Indias, the most important tourist destination in my country, Colombia. I am currently living with my older sister, Diana and my nephews, Luz Helena and Emmanuel. They are respectively 1 and 11 years old.
Our parents are Silvestre and Consuelo. They live in a little town near Cartagena, called Pueblo Nuevo. It’s a very small and quiet town which I feel, it was a great place to grow up in, alongside my 3 older sisters. We are a very close family.

I got my degree in Tourism Management on 2020 from SENA (Which is a very traditional Educational Institution in Colombia). My studies where the reason why I came to Cartagena on 2017. A few years ago, I started my internship in a luxurious Boutique Hotel, located at the heart of the Old City, called Hotel Casa del Arzobispado.

The internship went very well and the Hotel decided to give me the opportunity to be part of their team, after I finished. I’ve been working with them ever since and I’ve had the chance to really practice everything I learned at school. I consider myself to be very lucky since, having the chance to get a job in the career you chose, is not very easy in my country.

One of the things I love the most about my job (I work at the Guest Service Department), is having the chance to get to know people from all over the world and exchange with them about our different cultures.

When I'm not at work, I like to spend time with my friends, walk on the beach in the afternoon while I listen to my favorite song, take pictures of sunsets, cook pasta and what I like most is spending time with my nephews, so when I'm on my day off, my day starts very early. First on the list is Luz Helena's breakfast. We spend the rest of the day playing until Emmanuel comes home from school and I have to help him with his homework. From time to time I take them to Playland, which is an amusement park that we really like. I really enjoy going there because I have to be a girl again while playing with them and I find that exciting. I really enjoy spending time with my nephews and seeing them grow up.

Although at the moment I am only taking care of Emmanuel and Luz Elena, in reality I have a lot of experience taking care of children, since I have not only had to take care of the children of my 3 older sisters, but also the children of my neighbors when I lived in my native town.

I have had the opportunity to take care of children from newborns to 11 years old, and I can say that it has been a very rewarding experience for me, being able to take care of another person, help them when they need it, teach them new things, see them learn every day, see them walking, then running and educating them, are things that have fulfilled me have made me more mature.
I am proud of the person I have become at 23 years old, I never give up and I always want to find something that expands my horizons and teaches me more. Precisely for this reason, I became interested in the Au Pair Program. I see this program as an opportunity to get to know a different country, meet different people and experience their culture. I think traveling and seeing the world is the ultimate way to learn and to grow. I think that living abroad can help me to be a more mature and responsible person and that it would be a good opportunity to learn more about myself. One of the many things that this program can help me do, is to share a little bit of Colombia’s culture with the world. I would like to be able to create a strong bound with my Host Family and help them in any way I can. I’m willing to give my 100% to make sure that this would be a positive and memorable experience for my Host Family and for me.
