Letter to the family

Dear host Families, I am a 19 year old High School and College graduate, who is currently enrolled in a French course on the open university. My native language is English but I also have a National 5 qualification in French (I believe this is equivalent to B2) and I also speak a little Spanish and Italian. I have previous experience working as an Au-pair for a family with 4 children ages 4-14 in Rome, Italy. I love working with children as they are so bright and full of joy, I am good at communicating with children as I am calm, patient, well mannered, caring and attentive. Some of my qualities as an Aupair... maintaining a clean and safe environment, preparing healthy meals, tutoring and creating fun and engaging activities e.g., cooking, baking, arts and crafts, gymnastics, dancing, hide n seek, counting/alphabet games, reading, nursery rhymes and so much more.

Experience

I would like to be an Au Pair abroad as I would like to experience living and working in another country as well as developing my language and skills further. One of my current goals is to become fluent in French. I would also like to become more familiar with different cusines. If there is a nearby school I can attend for French lessons please let me know.

I previously worked as an Aupair for a family of 6 (4 children) in Rome, Italy 01/25/23-04/17/23.
My main role was helping the youngest child to get ready for school, dance lessons and for bedtime. I also walked the youngest to her school bus before and after school and then prepared an after school snack and played with her.
My other roles included making dinner every night for 7-8 people sometimes encouraging the children to help teaching them how to cook and giving them some small chores e.g., setting the table for dinner, preparing the bottels of water for the table or helping to clean up.
I read with the children helping them to better their english skills and correting any mistakes and explaining the pronunciation for example- in Engish the s at the end of a word (typicaly added on to the end of a word to make it plural) is to be pronounced where as in Italian it is often silent.
Other activites i done with the children include playing table tennis, basket ball, football, making blanket dens, going on walks to get ice cream, playing at the park, painting, baking and watching movies.
I also done other house hold chores such as laundery, hovering, tidying away toys, organising cupboards, keeping the fridge clean and organised safely and keeping the kitchen clean and tidy throuout the day.
On saturdays the children attended russian school in the center of rome i would help prepare the chidren for school and then explore rome while they were at school. i would go back to pick up the youngest when she was finished and then took her to the play park or to the caffee and the met up with the mother and the 2 older children later when they had finished and it was time to go home.
Overall it was a great experience; i learnt some italian, learnt more about italian culture, I got to see more of Italy and also travelled to malta with the familly and i made memories that will stay with me forever.
