Letter to the family

Dear Future Host Family,

My name is Mikaella, a 21-year-old from the Philippines, and I am currently working as an au pair in Germany. My contract will end on August 20, 2025, and I am now looking for a new host family in another EU country, where I can continue this enriching journey.

I have always had a deep interest in learning about different cultures and ways of life, and becoming an au pair has given me the unique opportunity to do just that. This experience has not only broadened my perspective but also helped me grow as a person. I enjoy spending time with children, and I find great joy in being part of a family’s everyday life—helping out, supporting the children’s growth, and sharing cultures.

You should consider hosting me because I bring with me a genuine passion for childcare, responsibility, and warmth. I am patient, flexible, and open-minded, with a positive attitude and strong sense of responsibility. I respect cultural differences and enjoy adapting to new routines and environments. Having already lived as an au pair in Germany, I understand the expectations and duties of the role and am well-prepared to integrate into a new family smoothly.

I believe I am well-qualified for this position due to my previous au pair experience, my love for working with children, and my strong communication and organizational skills. I am fluent in English, have basic knowledge of German, and am eager to learn your language as well. I always strive to create a safe, fun, and nurturing environment for the children I care for.

Experience

Being an au pair in Germany has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. I have had the privilege of living with a wonderful host family, where I helped care for their children, supported their daily routines, and shared special moments as part of their household. This experience has taught me a lot—not only about childcare, but also about responsibility, communication, and adapting to a new culture.

I’ve learned how to manage different tasks such as preparing meals for the children, assisting with homework, organizing play activities, and helping with light household chores. I’ve also enjoyed being part of a cultural exchange—sharing Filipino traditions while learning German language and customs. Living abroad has helped me grow as a person and become more confident, independent, and open-minded.

I would love to continue being an au pair in another EU country because I enjoy working with children and experiencing new cultures. It gives me the opportunity to grow personally, learn a new language, and broaden my perspective. Most importantly, I value the meaningful relationships built with host families and the sense of being part of something bigger than myself.

I am excited to continue this journey and create new memories with a loving host family, while also sharing my own culture and helping support their day-to-day life.
