Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Hi there! We are looking for a live-in carer or companion to stay with my grandmother while she recovers from cataract surgery. While her recovery is not expected to be intensive, she is very worried about the procedure and being home alone. We mostly need someone to keep her company, perform basic errands, take her on outings, and do light domestic tasks.
She lives in a beautiful old farm house about a 5-10 minute walk from the village of Tremolat. There are weekly markets, 3 restaurants, and a beautiful historical abbey in the village. She is also about a 10 minute walk from the Dordogne River. At the river, there are water sports, including kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and water skiing. The region is beautiful and there is a lot to explore, and it has a wonderful culinary tradition. There are two good sized grocery stores within a 20 minute drive, as well as many beautiful villages, towns, and chateaus in the area.
She will provide a car, to take her on outings, do errands, but also to explore the region yourself!

Job Description

Mostly we need someone to keep her company and drive her to and from her appointments. She may need help reading things, finding things, and getting around the house after her surgery. Cooking dinners would be a big help, as well as performing basic cleaning (dishes, laundry). She is quite an anxious woman and is worried about her health, so the main purpose of having someone there is to reassure her and make sure she isn't alone when recovering from this surgery (again, not because the recovery will be so much, but because she's quite nervous about it!).

Accommodation

Victoria lives on the ground floor of the house. The upstairs will be private for the carer, which has 3 bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. Through one of the upstairs bedroom is an entrance to the converted barn, which has a separate living space (tv, couch) and dining space. A small oven/cooking items can also be brought into this space. Victoria occasionally goes into the barn but very rarely, so this can effectively be a private space. She does smoke, so smoking is permitted.
