Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are a family that moves during the course of the year. We spend our winters in the mountains in a ski town called Revelstoke and in Barbados, in the tropical Caribbean. Our summers are at our main home base on the BC Coast on Quadra Island. We work in film production and previously our au pair and son join us on film shoots too.

We are hoping to find an au pair who can commit until January 2025 as a minimum and is able to start in by 1st July 2024. Someone who is open to a lifestyle that moves around and is willing to be flexible with our schedules.

Our main home base is on an island called Quadra Island in British Columbia, Canada. It is a 10 minute ferry ride from Campbell River, a large town on Vancouver Island. You reach Campbell River via a 40 minute flight or a longer ferry ride from Vancouver.

Our home sits on an acre property in the forest and faces the ocean and we keep our boat in the marina a 10 minute walk from the house. Also a 10 minute walk from our home is a pub, post office and village store. It is a quiet but beautiful place to live, surrounded by ocean, mountains and forest. It would suit an au pair who enjoys outdoor activities, over city offerings. Popular things to do on Quadra and Vancouver Islands include, kayaking, hiking, climbing, boating and in the winter, skiing.

Job Description

We would like to find someone who can help us care for our son who will be 1 year old in May 2024.

Looking after our son involves bottle feeding and meal times, changing diapers, bathing and playing with him. Our current au pair will take him on walks in his stroller. Sometimes we will ask to help with bedtimes too. I (Louisa) often work at home so am nearby to assist with his care so you are not left alone all day.

Help around the house with our son's laundry, keeping his room and common spaces clean and tidy would be hugely appreciated.

Kai and I work in film and television and are looking for an au pair who is open to travelling with us. As well as working with us at home, so we may take our son with us on film shoots.
