Hi! I’m Claire and here’s the slightly complicated family background ;)

Mum, Margret, is German. She married Sandro, Italian, when I was 8. We moved from the UK to Tuscany in 1991 where mum and Sandro renovated a farmhouse in a stunning setting in the Tuscan hills and have lived there ever since. I moved away as a teenager for uni and living in various countries in Asia. I am now settled in London, my brother in Hong Kong….We have had decades of parties and families holidaying here and its still the most perfect place. However, sadly in the first year of the pandemic Sandro very rapidly got taken down by Dementia. We had a really tumultuous time of getting things organised and set up at home for him. Its been extremely hard on mum, who has always been a very youthful and lively woman, but is now showing signs of being ground down by it all. We have an absolute angel, Ruwan, and his little family living in the guesthouse and he is Sandro’s full-time carer, although he does much more than that…

Its important that mum keeps her social life, gym routine and ability to GET OUT of the house when she is feeling overwhelmed by the situation with Sandro. This is where the matter of driving comes into play. While she is still fine, there are days when her energy or nerves get the best of her and she feels too wobbly to drive. I am concerned these days are going to become more frequent and it would be the absolute worst thing if she stops going out because of it. While where she lives is heaven, sometimes even heaven needs escaping from at times.

I would love to find someone who has a license, doesn’t mind Italian country roads and would be open to a discussion on how being an on-call driver for mum, maybe 3-4 days a week, could work for you.
