Letter to the family
Dear (future) Host Family,
First of all, I'd like to thank you for taking a few minutes of your time to read this letter. I am not really good at introducing myself, so let me apologise in advance if there are information not mentioned here. Please do know that, should you have any questions after reading this, feel free to send me a message and I'll be glad to answer them as fast and as thoroughly as I can.
Well, my name's Lovely. Yes, you read it right! and no, I don't consider it as a 'unique' name (well, not in my country anyway). I come from a country internationally called "Pearl of the Orient Seas"--- the Philippines! I take great pride of my country and nationality as Filipinos can only be described in one word, that is: hard-working. It isn't quite a known fact that the one of the two (2) official languages of the Philippines is English. Currently, I am based in Czech Republic. If you're worried about visa application, no worries as I already have it together with an indefinite extendable EU residency card.
I have been an English as a second/ foreign language instructor for more than 10 years. I want to be an Au Pair because I want to try something new other than being a tutor or instructor, but it should still be close to the two (2) things that I am very passionate about, language and culture exchange, and travelling. I am certain my credentials and vast experience in taking care of young learners and understanding their mental and emotional needs, regardless of language barrier, are enough to qualify me for the position.
As for my skills in taking care of a household, I believe I am good at it. It is part of Philippines culture for women to be trained by their elders to know how to do household chores at a young age as it will come in handy when we reach the age of maturity. And indeed, I can attest to that. I have traveled to different countries for work and have been living independently ever since.
I cannot say in particular as to why you should host me, but if after reading this letter and you feel good about yourself to entrust me to care for your kids and household, would gladly show this easy-going (me) and culture obsessed (me again) lady anything you want to know about the beauty of your country, then I am what you're looking for.
Lastly, when it comes to my interest in staying with the host family, 2 to 3 month, mostly during summer holidays, is my preference as I have a full-time teaching job.
Thank you once again for reading this and looking forward to hearing from you!
Kind regards,
Lovely
