Letter to the family

Dear Host Family,
My name is Cynthia and I am a 24-year-old Kenyan with a strong passion for childcare and cultural exchange. I am writing to express my strong interest in the Au Pair position and looking forward to the possibility of joining your family. I come from Kenya in a town called Kitengela a place I've always admired for its diverse wildlife and Maasai culture. I have been following the German culture and way of life for some time now, and the opportunity to become an Au Pair with your family would be a dream come true.
Why I Want to be an Au Pair
My passion for childcare began early on. Being the second-born in a family of three, I also have a large blended family with 3 step-sisters and 2 step-brothers whom I've practically helped raise. This experience instilled in me a natural love for children and the immense joy of playing, learning together. Becoming an Au Pair allows me to combine this passion with cultural immersion, which is incredibly important to me. I am eager to learn about your family traditions, language, and way of life, while also sharing my own culture with you and your children.
Why I'm the Ideal Au Pair
I am a highly responsible individual with a genuine love for children. My experience with my large, blended family has honed my patience and ability to handle challenging situations. In fact, my first experience with a baby was when I was 13 years old and my mom had left me alone with my crying little sister! While it was frustrating at first (We both ended up crying – it was a funny moment looking back!), over the years I've learned so much about caring for children of all ages. I have watched my siblings grow and what an experience it’s been and I couldn’t love them more. This experience has helped me develop patience and the ability to explain things in a way children understand, which was especially helpful when teaching my younger siblings how to walk and ride a bike. There's no greater feeling than seeing their faces light up when they finally master a new skill!
I am a creative and resourceful individual who enjoys planning games, outings that are both fun and educational. I am also a very reliable person who takes my commitments seriously.
Having a large, blended family has given me valuable experience in preparing meals, creating routines, and resolving conflicts among my siblings. I am comfortable with light housework, helping out with homework, and am happy to contribute to a harmonious household environment. I am a quick learner, very eager to learn, and am committed to becoming a valuable part of your family. I am open to learning your childcare routines and preferences, and I am always looking for ways to improve my skills.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I am eager to learn more about your family and the opportunity.
Sincerely,
Cynthia

Experience

While I don't have the personal experience of being an Au Pair, I've been fascinated by the stories of others who have embraced this exciting opportunity. Personally, I'm drawn to the prospect of becoming an Au Pair in Germany for several reasons.
First and foremost, it offers the perfect blend of childcare and cultural immersion. I've always had a love for working with children, and through babysitting my younger siblings, I've honed my skills in creating routines, engaging children in fun and educational activities, and fostering a nurturing environment. Being an Au Pair would allow me to put these skills to use while simultaneously immersing myself in German life, from traditional foods and celebrations to everyday family routines. I'm also eager to share my own Kenyan heritage with your children, creating a truly enriching cultural exchange.
Furthermore, I believe this experience would be a catalyst for personal growth. Living in a new country would push me outside my comfort zone, making me more independent, resourceful, and responsible. It would broaden my horizons and challenge me in a positive way, preparing me for future endeavors.
