Letter to the family

Hi! I'm Sophie and I'm from a town near Glasgow in Scotland. I'm 23 years old. I am a bubbly, fun, smiley person. I have a great sense of humour and love to laugh! I am very friendly and caring also. I am also a positive person and try to make the best out of every situation. I am sociable and love to chat. However, I also like my own company sometimes to read, walk, or watch TV.

I come from a family of 5, made up of my Mum, Dad, older sister, older brother and me - I am the baby of the family! My Mum and Dad are separated, so I live between their homes. I am also an Auntie to 2 crazy nephews, aged 3 and 5. I have a boyfriend also, who I have been with for around 18 months.

I expect to be given a fair amount of time off as well as a fair amount of pocket money for the work done with your family. I’d love if we could create an agreement together before I come out that sets out exactly what we ask of each other. ☺️

Experience

I would love to become part of your family whilst also experiencing a new country. I am a kind, helpful, and caring person, so being an Au Pair comes naturally to me. I have experience caring for children already, as I have two nephews. I see them every week for at least a few hours. I do lots of activities with them both in the house and elsewhere.

I have recently graduated from university with a first class honours degree in Sociology & Social Policy. Before this, I had originally followed a career path in fashion design and completed 1 year at art school. I had started a degree in secondary school teaching in August, however I have decided to put that on hold for now to allow myself to travel and Au Pair before going into this career. I done well in high school, having achieved 6 Scottish Highers and 1 Advanced Higher, all at A and B grades.

My mother tongue language is English, therefore I am fluent - although I have a Scottish accent which can sometimes be misinterpreted! ? I have basic knowledge of French from high school - I have a National 5 qualification in French at an A grade. I have also learned French independently through the use of Duolingo.

I know many people who have been Au Pairs who have told me how amazing it is! I love being around children as I think they can be so entertaining and fun to be around. I also love to teach, so I hope to help your children with homework, learning English - anything! However, I also love to learn too, and I am always learning things from my nephews. So, I think being an Au Pair enjoyable experience for me. I think the experience of becoming a big sister in a family will be rewarding, but I also hope to help your family too. I want to take a break from my studies to experience a new country whilst being part of a lovely family! ?
