Hello! Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter. I am sure that you have looked over several different au pair letters, and I hope that after reading mine, I am what you are looking for!

My name is Melanie, and I am twenty-three. I am excited at the prospect of living in a new country, and as I am very fond of embracing cultures different than my own, I am sure that in no time I will feel at ease. I would love to become an Au Pair for your family because I want to learn how to best suit your individual family's needs, as you teach me what a family unit is like in another region. I have a very patient and empathetic personality, but I also am very outgoing and adventurous- something that I think makes me a very adaptable caregiver. I am a dependable person, organized, honest, and respectable, and my promise to your family is that you will never have to worry about your children's well-being when they are in my care.

I recently graduated from college with a performing arts degree, and I am passionate about incorporating creativity into my work as a caregiver with music, theater, dance, and art. I have been enjoying taking care of children since I was sixteen, with my first job as a babysitter to one infant and a toddler, and I have loved taking care of children and pre-teens. My most recent experience as a caregiver included my last two summer holidays (in-between school semesters) spent working as a counselor and theater & dance educator; I was able to teach lessons in the performing arts during the day, but I also enjoyed being able to share fun and silliness with the children in the evenings-they seems to especially enjoy my visual re-enactments of bedtime stories that included flashlights, shadow puppets, and lots of character accents! One of my core values is the foundation of trust that is formed between the child and the caregiver, and it is important to me that your children feel safe, valued, and loved. ❤️

I enjoy writing, composing music, and painting, and I LOVE cooking for family and friends! I also am an avid reader, and one of my favorite things to do when I visit a new place is to visit the local library and bookstores. As a child, my mom used to take me on weekly library trips to pick out books, and as an adult, I believe in the influence that a good book can have to promote both creativity and education!

I am an American citizen, but I love to travel abroad-my most recent visit was to London, United Kingdom. I have loved to travel often, but you might be surprised to find that I am rarely homesick! I would credit this ability to stay level-headed as my opportunity to define the definition of home in many different places and people.

Overall, my expectations for being an Au Pair for your family include being a caregiver for your children, pitching in with additional tasks, and being an overall help to your family dynamic. ?
