Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

Dear au pair!

We are looking for a Russian speaking au pair to babysit our 5 years old twin girls, after school and one or two eveings a week. The visa of our current au pair will expire in September, and therefore we are looking for a new one.

Job Description

The girls are going to school each working day, and the au pair will be babysitting them after school until one of the parents comes home from work, and one or two evenings a week usually, if the parents need to go to a concert. On Wednesday the mother works from home and picks them up from school and stays with them. Sometimes the father will also be able to pick up the girls from school on the other weekdays, it all depends a lot on his schedule which differ each weeks.

The au pair always has at least two days off a week, usually in the weekend.

We are looking for a Russian speaking au pair so that the girls will also develop this langugage further. They speak fluent Dutch, and their Russian is a bit less fluent and they know less words. Therefore we also stimulate reading a lot of Russian books with them.

We are looking for an open, active, enthusiastic, warm and kind person who likes to take initiative and is creative, who is patient and manages to stay calm.

We expect from the au pair responsibility, flexibility, patience, warmth, good communication skills, positivity, but the most important is love and care for the children. We want somebody who is sweet and just caring for them, and sincerely likes to play with them.

Since we regularly both have to work in the evening, but not on fixed days, flexibility is required. We are used to make the schedule two weeks in advance, so that the au pair knows what to expect, and can make her own plans as well. In addition, the au pair can always ask us the plans regarding dates further in advance, if she would like to plan something.

The au pair will possibly cook once or twice a week and do some simple cleaning (only children areas). In the weekend at least one of the parents is usually free, but occasionally they both have to be at a concert and they au pair will babysit those hours.

Accommodation

The au pair has her own room and basically her own bathroom, which is used only now and then by the rest of the family, or when we have guests staying over. Both are on a different floor in the house than the rooms of the parents and children. Therefore the au pair has a lot of privacy.

We live in Amsterdam area; in a city directly next to Amsterdam, which is 17 min. by bus or 25 min. by bike. We also have a bike for the au pair (everyone bikes in the Netherlands :))!
