Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are currently not looking for anyone, but please feel free to ocntact us for future planning (23/24)

Hello, dear future Au Pair,
We very much look forward to meeting you! We write in English, so that most people understand - but we are looking for AuPairs who already have a very good level (B2) or are native speakers of either French or German. You can learn the respective other language in our home and outside. We are living in the countryside in France at the Swiss border, yet close to everything in a bicycle ride or short distance by car - Swiss border 1 minute, tennis club and skateparc 5 minutes, Commercial Center incl. swimming pool, gym, and hiking 10 minutes, Geneva center 15 minutes, the lake 20 minutes, Salève mountain 20 minutes, Annecy 30 minutes, Lyon about an hour. There’s also an entertainment Parc with Swimmingpool, gym, wellness, indoor hiking and indoor playing and some shops to be reached in a 10 minutes car drive (vitamparc).

Our boys (Henry, 10 years and Eric, 7 years) are super sweet and lots of fun yet also very active and energetic, at times quite challenging. They are both diagnosed with ADHD. So, it would be great if you have strong nerves and ideally already some experience with children who may have special needs. Henry goes to a Rudolf Steiner school across the border (10 minutes by car, 20 by bike) and Eric will attend the local French village school.

I work as a Director in a multi-national company in Geneva and my hubby Stefan is a scuba dive instructor at lake Geneva (yes, you can also learn to dive with us :-)!!) and a musician.

You will have your own 40 square meter studio with toilet/shower and kitchenette in the souterrain of our house.

Hope to meet you soon!!
Katrin

Job Description

You should be able to speak EITHER German or French already well, minimum B2, better native. While we appreciate and support your wish to learn French or German with us, it will be important that you already feel comfortable in one of the languages to be able to communicate well with the children.

It would be amazing if you already have some experience with children who have some special needs or symptoms like ADHD, no worries if not yet, but you should definitely have experience with child care in general, beyond babysitting from time to time or taking care of your younger siblings! Perhaps you aim to become a childminder, teacher, kindergardener, child-pysychologist, or children's social worker in the future - in this case, I am sure that you can learn a lot in our family :-).

We will provide you with a bike as you will sometimes be responsible to bring or pick up the children by bike. On top, an international or French/Swiss driver’s license is essential as well and we can borrow you the car when needed if you don’t have your own. Your key responsibility is to take care of the boys, but some light house work and a dinner preparation from time to time would be appreciated as well!
