The Au Pair experience stands out to me as I love the idea of being a part of a family and making meaningful connections whilst being so far from home.
Since choosing to study occupational therapy in 2016, I have gained extensive experience in childcare and childrens therapy. This includes, looking after children from ages 0-16 with varying care needs, disabilities and developmental stages. I have worked as a peadiatric therapy assistant, working on emotional regulation skills, problem solving and confidence building, with children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, ADD, intellectual disabilities and more. I have had student work experience at a major Children’s Hospital here in Australia, working with families of sick children and preparing children emotionally for procedures or medical intervention.
From the experience listed above, I have developed a passion for working with children and families to create positive and safe learning environments and providing children with the tools to be emotionally aware, creative and curious.
