Welcome Letter to the Au Pair

We are the family. We live in Narangba, a suburb north of Brisbane in QLD Australia.

We have 5 children but only 2 live at home still (they are aged 3 and 9). Our 9 year old son has high functioning Autism, so experience with ASD kids would be great but not necessary. The only thing we ask is that you be open minded to his little quirks and sensory issues (particularly surrounding food).

We are searching for a au-pair that preferably has some childcare experience or has younger siblings. Someone who is up for the challenge of caring for our children in another country and sharing their culture with us.

Both Richard and I work changing hours so we need a flexible, responsible person who still knows how to have fun.

The main duties will be to do school drop off and pick up, care for Neo (3 year old) on the days he is at home, take him to swimming lessons and care for both boys one evening per week while we have our date night. Obviously preparing food for the little on during the day is required.

You will have every weekend to yourself, day and night (but happy for you to come along with us wherever we may go if you want to). During the week you will have 4 evenings off after 4pm to do whatever you like.

We have a female Boston Terrier dog called Bella but you will not be required to care for her. She loves everyone!

We do not smoke and expect that our au-pair will also be a non-smoker. First aid experience would be great but if not, perhaps you can complete a course while you are staying with us? We are happy to pay for that if you are interested.

At this stage we really need someone to start As Soon As Possible and the longer we can have one person stay the better but if we find the right person we can negotiate that with them.

Since our last au-pair gave us no notice that she was leaving, we will require someone who is happy to sign a contract for a minimum term of 1 month, giving us 2 weeks notice if they wish to move on or if we are unhappy with the situation.

You will have your own bedroom with double bed, ceiling fan, tv, DVD player, make up table, large wardrobe with shelves and hanging space, air conditioning and of course access to the wi-fi. You will share a bathroom with the 2 boys. Please see pictures for the house, bathroom and bedroom picture.

The pocket money will be between $180-$200 AUD per week and obviously food will be provided.

If you would like to get out and about during your spare time, you will have access to a manual transmission car but there is also a train station very close to our house and also the bus stops in the street.

We encourage our au-pair to see as much as they can fit in during their stay. We would really like another member of the family that would be like a big sister for the boys.

If you think we may be a good fit, please let us know. We look forward to talking with you more about this opportunity.
