Host Families and Au Pairs must sign the contract and request the European Health Insurance Card. We recommend to purchase an additional insurance in Iceland to avoid potential problems.

Book the tickets and plan everything before the arrival in your host country. Do not forget to agree with the Host Family on the pick up and exchange contact information. 

Au Pair in Iceland requirements for Non-EU citizens

Non-EU citizens have to get a visa or residence permit to become an Au Pair in Iceland. The general visa requirements in Iceland are:
  • Age: 18 - 25
  • Good English Skills (more of a recommendation than a requirement)
  • Au Pair contract
  • Health insurance valid for the duration of the stay
  • Valid passport
  • Ability to pay for the visa and travel expenses
  • Clear criminal record
  • Housing certificate (to prove where the family lives)
  • Proof of support from the Host Family
